Mini Flower Headbands

Dainty little fabric flowers in a variety of colours, ready to be made into headbands.

I like the simple, unfussy, look of just one little flower on the side of the metal band.

On occasion though, I am tempted to add two -or even three- flowers on one headband....

I'll be listing a couple in my etsy shop soon.

Red Poppy Earrings

Another pair of poppy post earrings. This time in red with a discreetly lustrous pewter grey bead centre. (You can see the previous ones here.)

These ones also measure about 1.5 cm across. They are the smallest in size for these flower earrings. There is also a medium and a large size available.

And these are also listed in my Fairytale Flower etsy shop.

Red Flower Bangle

My newest floral bangle/bracelet with a large flower in the deep burgundy red satin fabric that I have come to love.

This red hue is so rich and deep that the colour surprises me with it's intensity every time.

I sewed what seemed to me to be innumerable black lustrous glass beads in the middle of the flower to make a big black centre with a delicate shine.

It can be worn low on the wrist or higher up on the arm as a cuff.

If worn low on the wrist, it can fit the wrist exactly, so that it gently hugs the wrist and stays where you choose (but doesn't restrict the wrist or the circulation of blood) or in a larger size, as a bangle that moves around freely).

Just in time for Christmas!

Red Flower Appliques

Small handmade flowers in a bold, poppy red.
They have been left without any type of backing so that they can be used as appliques that can be attached to any sort of clothing, accessory or other diy project.

Red Flower Accessories

I recently made these large red rose flowers and attached them to this very soft but sturdy black cotton ribbon. The durable, heavy-weight ribbon means that they can be tied and un-tied repeatedly without showing wear.

The flowers themselves measure about 10cm across but are very light-weight and easy to wear in a multitude of ways.

I can easily see them used in the more usual ways: tied around the waist as a sash or belt, tied around the head as a headband or tie-back, the wrist as a floral wrist corsage or even around an ankle for a more bohemian, free spirited look.

Another way of using these is tied around the handles of a bag like a bag charm or accessory. I do it all the time as it's an easy -and inexpensive- way to change a bag's look and brighten your mood in the process.

Another way I've seen them used is as a floral touch in home decor, wrapped around a vase or favourite object in the house. A flower accessory for the home.
I know I'd love to see these as nursery decor for a little girl!
Perhaps tied around a bed post or chair.

Valentine's Day Best 8

Every Valentine's Day, the egst team on etsy celebrates another birthday. This year it turns eight, so to honour the occassion, here are 8 of my favourite etsy shop related items in one photo: one of my favourite flowers and the items that are needed to make and send it.

So, in the photo you can see:
- my favourite Valentine's Day red flower hair clips
- the red fabric needed to make the flower petals
- pins (to hold together everything that needs holding together)
- a tea-light (which is necessary to singe the fabric)
- matches (to light the tea-light)
- the gold stamen I add to the centre of the flowers
- an array of backings for the flower to choose from (there's a comb, a plain pin or brooch back,a dual pin-and-alligator clip back and an extra large alligator clip)
- a pretty box to pack it in and send it on its way

OOAK

This flower was made for my little niece who was wearing a red dress on a special day.
It's one-of-a-kind and it measures about 7 cm or 2 and 3/4 of an inch wide but it's so light you can hardly tell you're wearing it.

Red Flowers For Secret Bunnies

Continuing with the overdue 'Bunny" posts, this was what I made for my 'Secret Bunny' this year and it happened to be Athena.

Athena has a little girl so I thought a mommy-daughter pair of red flower accessories might be a good idea.

The elastic bangle version was made for Athena.
For the little one I added the same flowers on a ribbon that can be worn as a sash around her waist or tie-back ribbon in her hair.

And then I added a little flower brooch with the newest kind of flower I was making in the box too and packed it all up and sent it off to the girls.

I hope they like them and get to wear and enjoy them!
