More toilet paper roll animals from our tp menagerie.
These frogs are not only fun to make but they can provide hours of fun because they are also a toy.
After a proper amount of practice, you can
catch the fly in the large, gaping mouth.
I'm pretty sure I saw a version of them somewhere on Pinterest but try as I might, I cannot find the link.
these are sooo cute!! I'll try it with the nephew for sure :-)

ReplyDeleteow!! they are funny !
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
ReplyDeleteThey were lots of fun to make and they're a pleasure to have around.....
I love these little fellows!!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you make the fly out of so that it is heavy enough to get it to work?
ReplyDeleteThe fly is made of two identical pieces of cardboard -cut out in the shape of a fly- glued together, sandwiching the string. The cardboard is deliberately the heavy kind so that the fly turns out heavy enough for the toy to work.
DeleteIf there's no heavy cardboard available, an idea would be to sandwich a little coin -or something else with a bit of weight to it- to make the fly heavy enough to be able to fly and drop to be caught by the frog's gaping mouth.
How did u make it?? Can u show me steps to make it.. it's really good entertainment for my lititle one
ReplyDeleteHi Gauri! The truth is, there's been a lot of interest in these little fellows. They are great fun to make and hours of fun to play with.
DeleteI'll try and make a diy tutorial for it and share it.
Maybe the fly coud be a button.
ReplyDeleteThats so nice,i'll try to make it with the summer school's children :)
A button is a great idea, Istina!
DeleteIf it's a heavy button it will work great and if the buttons you have available aren't heavy enough, putting 2 of them together would do the trick!

ReplyDeleteHow to make this and how to Play?
ReplyDeleteJorge, sorry, I have not made a tutorial for how to make the actual frog. I think/hope it's pretty easy to follow if you carefully look at the pictures.
DeleteTo play it however, you throw up the fly and try to catch it in the frog's open mouth. It's a lot of fun!

ReplyDeleteThe fly is actually 2 flies that 'sandwich' the string. The 2 flies are glued together and the string is in the middle, so everything is glued together. That's how they hold the string.
DeleteAs for the string in the body of the frog, it is attached to the 'bottom' of the frog. The 'bottom' of the frog can be stapled together -as one of my frogs is in the picture- or glued together -as the other frog is in the picture. Just make sure that in both cases you trap the string with a staple or glue so that it doesn't come out.
