1940s Advance Bag Pattern

Vintage bag pattern from the 1940s.
There are 3 different bags in this pattern and I can see bag number 1 somewhere in my future....

Light Ivory Flower Hair Pins

The last flowers I made were these delicate little flower hair pins in a very light ivory - which were great fun to make.
They're actually a bit darker ivory than the pictures show. (I don't know why everything's coming out a couple of tones lighter lately.....)

I doubt you can tell, but there's 12 of them in this little hair pin 'bouquet'.

And this is what they look like on their side, with the hair pins showing.

I've also got them in white in this listing.

The Fabulous Jazz Age

It's the time of year that the delectable Laura posts her fabulous pictures from the Jazz Age Lawn Party - and I can't help wishing I could have been there....

As always, Laura's whole ensemble is a delight but that kimono is a real show-stopper!

The fact that she chose to wear my Fairytale Flower nude chrysanthemum hair flower in her hair just made my day!!

View From The Castle

Last week we visited another fabulous greek castle, Palamidi, at the historic city of Nafplion.
This is the view from one of the openings of the fortress wall and one of my favourite pictures. It has hardly captured the intensity of the blue of the sea or the breath-taking beauty of the glorious miniature view seen through the tunnel of sturdy, thick rock but I simply had to share it.
With more to come....

If you want to walk around the castle, have a look here or here.
For some great pictures, see here.
And if you want to read up on the castle itself, try this, this, this or a visitor's guide.

Simplicity 6356 Bathing Suit

Simplicity 6356 is a 1974 pattern. You can probably tell by the definate 70s vibe of the wonderful art on the pattern envelope!

It's one of the vintage swimming patterns that I own and hope to make one day.
Maybe even this year, if I pluck up the courage.

Red Poppy Pin Giveaway Winner

The red poppy giveaway winner is Christina Duong.
There were two comments that correctly guessed that the number of poppies I made were 33!
I used the random number generator to pick one of the two ladies as the winner and it was Christina.
I also listed the poppies in my FairytaleFlower shop on etsy.
You can find them here if you're looking.

NOTE to Christina:
Christina, I've tried contacting you through bloglovin' as I have no other means of contacting you. If I do not hear from you within a week, I'll give the poppy to the other lady that guessed correctly.....

Sunny June

Don't you just love June?
This is what yesterday looked like.
Such a perfect day for the seaside.
Sunny and hot but with a whisper of a cool breeze....

Red Flowers For Secret Bunnies

Continuing with the overdue 'Bunny" posts, this was what I made for my 'Secret Bunny' this year and it happened to be Athena.

Athena has a little girl so I thought a mommy-daughter pair of red flower accessories might be a good idea.

The elastic bangle version was made for Athena.
For the little one I added the same flowers on a ribbon that can be worn as a sash around her waist or tie-back ribbon in her hair.

And then I added a little flower brooch with the newest kind of flower I was making in the box too and packed it all up and sent it off to the girls.

I hope they like them and get to wear and enjoy them!

Overdue Bunnies

This cute handmade bunny wreath was my Secret Bunny surprise this year, from Mary of Make It Pretty.

I just love the bold red, white and blue colour combination but perhaps what I love more is the incredibly pretty floral banner that spans the centre.
Needless to say it put a big smile on the little one's face.

Thank you, Mary!
And thank you, Zina, for tirelessly organizing the 'secret' swaps twice a year!
