Newest Silk Ruffle Cuff in Dark Champagne Shantung Silk

Here's my newest ruffle cuff and it's in a beautiful shantung silk -just like my last one. Only this one's a dark champagne gold that shimmers with the characteristic glow of this particular kind of silk.

It has a wide vintage cotton lace in antique white.

The edges are purposely left raw for a shabby chic feel.
I have finished cuffs off with stitched edges and  the result is quite nice, but usually they tend to look much stiffer, without the flow that these -untreated- ones have.
I suppose it's simply a matter of taste.
Or mood.

The ribbon that secures the cuff to the wrist is natural cotton in a darkish camel beige.

I have some more golden silks I want to try out in these cuffs.
And I'm looking forward to doing some black ones with black lace again, like this one.

Softest Champagne Silk Ruffle Cuff

The silk used for this cuff was such a joy to work with.
In the most subtle of golds and soft as a baby kitten, it's most definately a favourite.

There's also some of my grandmother's prized crochet lace there.
I'm sure I've mentioned her before. She was a wizard with a hook.
 A real master.

Every time I see her handiwork I regret not learning to crochet from her when I had the chance.

So I use the precious stash I have judiciously.

I've also used some natural cotton ribbon in an antique white.
It's quite stiff to begin with, but every time it's worn, it gets softer and softer untill it's smooth and silky.

Bridal White Ruffle Cuff

In total white, made out of the softest, most bridal white, natural cotton ruffles and layers of lace in dazzling white and antique white, this cuff is one of my favourite so far.

The Naughty Notions Bag

Yes, once more I find myself uploading the pictures of my bag challenge entry at the last minute -and vowing I will not do this again next time....

The good news is that, while,, literally finished at the last minute, it is exactly what I had imagined.

The pictures weren't the best -at the setting of the sun, it was no wonder
...but I hope you get the idea....

Most of these labels, buttons and various notions have a sentimental value and have been lurking in dark places for a project such as this.
For example, the little white daisy with the hanging beads adorned my mother's wedding dress....

I'll get some better pictures tomorrow, but for now, here is the front and below is the back of my entry.

Here is were you can see the rest of the bags in the challenge.

Sweet Treat

A while back, I was the lucky winner of a Petit Plat give-away on Handmade Europe blog.

This is the dainty little package that arrived on my doorstep.

And this is the delicate miniature donut pendant it contained.

It's just the prettiest thing.

The owner of PetitPlat is  Stephanie and she makes the most amazing food art.
If you haven't come across her incredible miniature food, I wholeheartedly reccomend you look it up, right here.

Nautical Circle Brooch - Newly Listed

I don't know why these seem a bit Christmas-y to me.....

Maybe it's the red and white.

Or the snow-flakey stitching on this one.

Or maybe it's because I'm feeling the Christmas spirit early this year.

It is, after all,  the most wonderful  time of the year...just like the song says.

In any case, I've got my own set of these and they've been my sole choice of accessory lately.

The pictured set is now listed in the shop.

Wedding Bells!

Weddings are one of my favourite things -along with ferris wheels, balloons and twinkle lights.
I love the festivity and the excitement and the promise of happily-ever-after that it holds.
I also love the decorations, the dresses, the gowns and all the beautiful paraphernalia that accompanies a wedding.
So, I was over-the-moon happy when the lovely Stacey of DragonflyNewMedia  contacted me for a custom order!

Stacey saw the Golden Siren Cuff/Armband and felt it would go well with her steampunk themed wedding.

So the ringpillow was made with the same shantung silk as well as my favourite vintage handmade crochet lace.

And the same fairy-like translucent ribbon.

The wedding is in only a few days

so I'm wishing her the wedding of her dreams

and a happily ever after.

And I'll be waiting for the pictures!
