My Creative Space - Old Lace and Happiness

This is part of a newly acquired stash of wonderful vintage lace that I just had to share...

The joy of having this lot drop in my lap unexpectedly can only be appreciated by other manic makers, I'm sure. (Isn't that right girls?)

Can you see the mustard yellow lace? It's a much deeper, yellower colour than the pictures and absolutely fabulous!

The large pieces of white lace are equally impressive but the sheer novelty of the colour does make it stand out.

There are also all sorts of trims in various sizes and designs....Some hand crocheted.

I can't wait to start on these!
Ah, the possibilities are endless....

My Creative Space - Pale Grey

These are my very latest flowers.
Though they are a very definite grey -or gray if you prefer- they look more pale blue in the pictures.

I've been meaning to make this smaller, simpler version of my flowers for a long time, but -it's been scientifically proven that- there's only so much one person can keep up with.....

I have an endless list of things I want to make, of versions of flowers that I have floating in my head.
Unfortunately, it's getting longer rather than shorter....

These flowers are specifically designed to be ultra light, so they can become bobby pins, but as you can see from the various findings displayed in the photos above and below, they can still be a number of things.

( Findings above: shoe clips, hair clip with attached pin/brooch , ring, bobby pin, baby hair clip, hair clip, brooch - pin back, extra large hair clip.)

I really like the lace in the centre and how it goes with the pearls.

And here are the finished bobby pins.

My Creative Space - New Flower in White

I've been trying out a new fabric flower.
This is attempt number one, in white:

Simple but oh, so pretty!
I got the instructions from a tutorial in my DIY -Tutorial Board on pinterest which seems bent on escaping me right now. I'll have a better look and find the link for anyone who might be interested or you can visit the board itself for the link to this tutorial as well as many, many, other wonderful things to make and do.

My version definately needs some tweaking, but I love the overall look and I can see it being made in all sorts of colours.

My Creative Space - Red Leather

My creative space is full of red leather leaves today.

I've had this wonderful piece of red leather for a while now, waiting for the right project to come along....

I started these last night, thinking to add them to a flower

But the leather is quite thick and heavy and I found the leaves way too pretty to be half hidden under the petals of the flower.

I settled on these colours for the veins, yellow, caramel and a deep, rich chestnut.

Maybe I'm -subconciously- getting ready for fall......

My Creative Space - Dark Chocolate

After my prolonged red-pink phase and with the heat rising relentlessly, it was  about time to turn to some cooler colours.

Dark chocolate organza with a touch of mysterious black tulle

shimmering black sequins with sparks of green fire

and the brightest of grass green leaves.

A trio of different sizes.

They are particularly difficult to photograph.

My Creative Space - Doll Face

Well, this is actually my first attempt at a doll I have had in my head for ages.

I sketched her and pinned her on my board and that's where she's been staring at me from for months.

I have to redo it since I'd like her facial features to be smaller altogether and change the shape of the head a bit, but that's the general idea after I straighten out all the kinks.

Next time, maybe I'll take some shots of the body too......

My Creative Space - Champagne Organza Flowers

These are one of the new  organza flowers I've been working on lately, in a positively luminous champagne organza.

I'm afraid they don't photograph well.

They are much more impressive in person.

Although I don't instinctively go for the subtle and subdued colours when it comes to organza for flowers, this one was love at first sight.

I can see these as pretty, flirty hair accessories- with or without leaves.

My Creative Space - Wrapping it up!

I recently took some pictures of an order getting ready to be shipped off.

This is one of my newest boxes -that I just love! A candy pink box of the very sturdy kind.
That way I'm sure that the flower will reach it's destination in perfect condition instead of it being crushed under mountains of mail.

The wonderful card that is accompanying the package is by Sevenstar -my favourite etsy illustration shop.

My Creative Space - Burgundy, Honeysuckle and Red

Here's something I've been playing around with lately.

The petal colours are a variation of the Burgundy Love Mix Flower , but that's where the similarity ends.

I love how the bright red ribbon pops and the leaves with the white tulle and red stitching are one of my all-time favourite leaves.

My Creative Space - Pink Addiction

Here are some pictures of what I'm making right now.
A custom order for an organza flower that's right up my alley. Pretty rose pink organza with tulle in complimentary dark pink, neon pink and a deep, vibrant magenta.

The biggest yet....

My Creative Space - Golden Flowers

These are my latest organza flowers, and I'm really excited about them....

The deep golden colour of the flower is actualy the result of quite a few layers of different colours -in both organza and tulle.

The pairing of it with the black leaves and purple thread was just a happy accident.

Perhaps I was influenced by the Halloween frenzy going on around me...

In any case, I'll definately be making more of these.
