Did you know that May 2-8 is Children's Book Week?
I couldn't possibly pass up a chance like this to share some magical images from my favourite vintage children's book illustrators:
Jennie Harbour |
Anne Anderson |
Arthur Rackham |
Jennie Harbour |
Edmund Dulac |
Maxfield Parrish |
Edmund Dulac |
Gustaff Tengrren |
Kay Nielsen |
These are truly lovely. I used to have a fairy book with Arthur Rackham drawings that I read until it fell to pieces.

Wow, these are stunning. I love, LOVE this era and style of illustration. My new mascot, Ella was from a children's book published in 1928. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I just love The Princess And The Pea! Thank you so much for sharing these. My blog is a continuing story about magic fairies. How I would love to be able to illustrate the stories. Unfortunately my stick figures don't quite do the story justice LOL.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I had an Arthur Rackham fairy book too. My sisters and I would go through it and tell each other which fairies we wanted to be.
