Tickle Me Tuesdays - Approaching Fall

I know that Autumn is officially well and truly underway, but around here we're still in the last throes of summer. Only now that the air is chilling slightly but gradualy can we begin to think of the approaching cooler weather.

These are the images that are putting me in the mood for the season:

1.This perfect depiction of Snow White by PalePreoccupation.

3.Aah! The Haute Couture issue by Paolo Roversi , September 2011 for Vogue Italia.
(via Abundance)

4.Another favourite photographer on etsy, TCapone and this perfect fallen leaf! I can't get over these colours and the crispness of the image.

5.A capelet in deep red burgundy.
Just what this season requires -by Threadrare.

My Creative Space - Honeysuckle And Persian Green Organza Flower

Very much still in the organza-flower-making mode, I'm creating flowers that are more similar as well as very different to their predecessors.

This one is one of my favourites.
I know.....I say that about all of them, but it's true.
For all of them.

I'm cazy about that persian blue irridescent centre.

And I love how it goes with the honeysuckle petals and the tulle layers.

I should be listing it with the others shortly.

Monday Moodboard - Natural Wonders

I have a thing for wood.
Especially driftwood.
I love those smooth rounded shapes and that surprising lightness.
I'm an avid driftwood collector.
One of these days I'll probably make one of those driftwood projects that are floating around in my mind.

Work In Progress

This is my organza flower in honeysuckle, with one of my all-time favourite centres, shimmering black sequins with purple and green accents and black tulle for added texture.

And here is the quest for a leaf that complements it best:

1. Crisp black linen with purple stitching. (The purple is actually brighter and more 'purple' on the real thing.)

2.Natural cotton canvas with black stitching. Already fraying fast.

3.Soft sky blue natural cotton with black stitching.

4.Natural cotton canvas again but this time with red stitching.

5.Vibrant emerald green leaf covered with white tulle and black stitching.

I love to hear your opinion and I'd appreciate any feedback about which ones you like more or less.

Newest -Floral Organza- Bag

This is my newest bag.

It's fully reversible, made with some of my very favourite fabrics.

One side is a black linen with some lovely ribbed texture and some of my newest striped cotton fabric -a muted green and white I'm besotted with.

The other side is a a sheer organza with an enormous, opaque floral print on it that I've lined with my trusty plain natural canvas.

You can't really see this in any of the pictures but up close you can see the canvas under the sheer parts of the organza. Especially when you move.

As has been my custom lately, I've made two identical bags.

Unfortunately, one has a little flaw........
I wouldn't sell it in any condition other than perfect, so you can expect a give-away soon.

My Creative Space - Red Lavender Heart Brooch

My workspace is full of little hearts in red, pink and caramel tones these days.

The puffy red heart in the picture is my own little brooch and it is filled with a bit of fragrant lavender and spices.

It came about once I was making lavender sachets -which is, I think, a bit more than is normal.

I was trying to make a little red heart brooch but I just wasn't happy with the results. It resisted all my attempts of improvement and completion and persisted in looking somehow flat and lacking.

Untill I plumped it up with some of the lavender mix from my near-by sachets that is.

I love how it swells and dips and looks three-dimensional and I sure love how it smells!

I've been getting requests for it, so I'm making a batch with this pretty fabric in rich, warm autumn tones.

This is how big it is and how it looks worn.

A Taste of Summer -a.k.a. Fig Jam

The other day at the market , around closing time, I came across some irresistable, fragrant figs that were practically being given away.
So I promptly took them home and made this:

Fig Jam!

Since I've never made jam of any kind before, I looked up some recipes and used this one and this one
to make my own version.

If you've never tried it, you simply must!

If you like figs, you'll love this!

And if you want to hold on to summer just a little bit longer....... this will surely help!
