White Camelia

This is a new kind of flower I attempted, in a style totally different to any I have made before. 

I was asked by C for a camelia-type flower -but on the flat side- and this is the result of that request.

The larger one is 6 inches wide and will be sewn directly onto C's wedding dress and the smaller flower which measures about 5 inches across is a hair flower, attached to a bobby pin - which you can see in the picture directly below. 

 What's totally different in this flower compared to all my other flowers is that I have not singed the edges of the organza. This may sound completely trivial but, in fact, it means that the flat organza material will remain a flat piece of material without any further manipulation and it also means that the petals will fray with use.

Which is why I have never attempted to use un-singed organza petals to make flowers before.
Which is ironic really if you think that I like the shabby chic, deshabille look....

But, while I'd happily fray cotton or silk or any number of other fabrics, there's just something about organza that's too pristine and elegant in my mind to spoil or mess with.

I did enjoy making this though and I love how it turned out. I just may play around with the fraying organza idea in the future.

Warm Chocolate

These are my newest organza flowers, in a deep, rich chocolate brown.

I think I'll turn one into a brooch and keep it myself. I find that brown is such an easy-to-wear winter colour.

Pastel Pink Organza Flower with Metalic Pink Leaves

This is my newest organza flower hair clip / brooch.

I love working with pastel pink organza and this time I mixed it up with all sorts of other lovely organzas as well as tulle -the garden variety white tulle as well as tulle with lace .

I think you can see all the diferent layers in the close-up below.

However, my latest addiction is the pink metalic leaves.

I came across this fabric a while ago and it's been sitting around patiently waiting for its turn to be picked up.

Now I can't wait to make all sorts of flowers with these shiny pastel leaves.

First Ever Organza Flower Key Ring

An organza-flower-and-leaves collage for your keys - it's been on my list forever. So I'm thrilled to finally make one!

This is actually a gift for a friend who's not the kind of girl to wear organza flowers on her person -incomprehensible, I know!

Now she can carry it around with her keys.

The long ribbon is not only for girly bows. It's to help you fish it out of your purse easily.

I've been making a different version of this for my keys for the last few years 

and it's so great to always be able to find your keys on the first try.....(I'll try and make a tutorial for it one of these days.)

The red and pink tones are in tune with my latest red craze that isn't showing any signs of abating.

I teamed it up with the cutest red and white polka dot box I could find.

I wish I'd taken a picture of it with it's pretty purple ribbon.....

My Creative Space - Champagne Organza Flowers

These are one of the new  organza flowers I've been working on lately, in a positively luminous champagne organza.

I'm afraid they don't photograph well.

They are much more impressive in person.

Although I don't instinctively go for the subtle and subdued colours when it comes to organza for flowers, this one was love at first sight.

I can see these as pretty, flirty hair accessories- with or without leaves.

My Creative Space - Wrapping it up!

I recently took some pictures of an order getting ready to be shipped off.

This is one of my newest boxes -that I just love! A candy pink box of the very sturdy kind. 

That way I'm sure that the flower will reach it's destination in perfect condition instead of it being crushed under mountains of mail.

My Creative Space - Burgundy, Honeysuckle and Red

Here's something I've been playing around with lately.

The petal colours are a variation of the Burgundy Love Mix Flower , but that's where the similarity ends.

I love how the bright red ribbon pops and the leaves with the white tulle and red stitching are one of my all-time favourite leaves.

Taupe, Purple and Chocolate

Here's another organza flower in taupe and purple

- just like this one.

But this one here has a soft, natural cotton ribbon in a rich, dark chocolate brown.

It can also be worn as a headband, sash, or wrist corsage.
