Mini Flower Headbands

Dainty little fabric flowers in a variety of colours, ready to be made into headbands.

I like the simple, unfussy, look of just one little flower on the side of the metal band.

On occasion though, I am tempted to add two -or even three- flowers on one headband....

I'll be listing a couple in my etsy shop soon.

Large Raven Black Flowers

These are large black organza flowers I made for a special project.
There's eight of them - in the two different sizes shown in these pictures.

They're actually darker than the pictures show. They're jet black with no hint of blue at all. Both the organza used for the petals and the tulle are as black as night.
The only relief from the darkness of the flower comes in the form of the gold stamens in the centre and and a hint of dark bronze organza in the mix to highlight the black and give the flower some depth and interest. Can you see it?

Dark Cherry Red Flower Pin and Bobby Pin

I made these dark cerise flowers a couple of days ago. I love this red fabric for its intense vivid colour as well as its discreet subtle sheen.

The beads in the middle are quite interesting, with an exceptional luster with shimmery hues of a variety of colours, including gold and a sort of beetle green. That probably doesn't sound very appealing and it sure isn't captured well in the photos but in reality it's very pretty and rather alluring.

For the flower brooch I attached the simple spoil-proof pin that I favour for brooches (aka pins). The kind that doesn't have the little 'wheel' that sometimes comes off.

Red Flower Bangle

My newest floral bangle/bracelet with a large flower in the deep burgundy red satin fabric that I have come to love.

This red hue is so rich and deep that the colour surprises me with it's intensity every time.

I sewed what seemed to me to be innumerable black lustrous glass beads in the middle of the flower to make a big black centre with a delicate shine.

It can be worn low on the wrist or higher up on the arm as a cuff.

If worn low on the wrist, it can fit the wrist exactly, so that it gently hugs the wrist and stays where you choose (but doesn't restrict the wrist or the circulation of blood) or in a larger size, as a bangle that moves around freely).

Just in time for Christmas!

Flower Keyring with Red Linen Leaves

Handmade flower keyring in a jubilant mix of coral, red, lilac and caramel.
You can see both the front and the back in the pictures above and below.

I mostly use synthetic webbing to attach the flower to the metalic split ring but this time I've opted for a cotton strip I specificaly sewed to tie in with the colours of the flower centre and leaves.

Red and White Flower Hair Clips

Flower hair clips in a cheerful red and white.
These floral hair accessories measure just under 2 inches and are attached to baby alligator clips making them very easy to clip into or onto hair.
Ideal for fine, whispy little girls' hair.

Caramel and Lilac Flowers

Flower brooch/hair clip in caramel and lilac with hints of brown.

I love the mix of colours in these and I love the different textures of the petals as well as the fiber filament centre. It's the very first time I've tried a centre of this type and I'm quite taken with the result.

In the photo above you can see the dual backing of the flower that is both a brooch and an alligator clip, which makes it possible to wear the flower in a number of ways.

They're not all quite the same size. The bigger ones measure about 8 cm or 3 inches across and the smaller one about 7 cm or 2.5 inches.
They are a limited edition. Only six made.
Of which I've kept one for myself......and given one to a friend...
So now there's just four.

Sandy Beige and Red Flower Sash

Handmade floral sash for a little princess.

The flower is made of chic nude fabric petals with a touch of ivory tulle and has a lustrous red bead centre while the dainty tulle leaves are ivory and red.

The ribbon that the flower is attached to is fairly long, so that it can be tied into a bow and have long flowing ends.

And it's sturdy cotton so that it can be worn time and again without showing wear.

Making Headbands

I'm still making flower headbands.

Usually, the more I make, the bigger and more complex they seem to get.

I start small and dainty and bit by bit they've been trying to morph into something more like these spectacular D&G flower headbands.

But most are much more minimalist still, with a single delicate bloom on a  slim metalic headband.

I've got more to photograph soon and share.

Lilac and Brown Flower Headband

This was a custom order for Jennifer.
For her beautiful little girl, in fact, who is going to be a flower girl next week in a rustic country themed wedding.

The colours we were working with were lilac, cream and brown and these are the resulting flowers.
I made a large flower headband and a smaller flower corsage by attaching the flowers to a plush cream-coloured cotton ribbon.

And these are the flowers before I attached them to the ribbons.
I liked them so much I may make one for my winter coat lapel.....

July WIP

July has been proving a rather busy month!

So much more busy than expected!

So all I have to share for now is some boho flowers in progress which have to be finished, packed and sent off in the mail by Monday.

I'm having a lot of fun with these and I can't wait to see them finished!
