Long Textile Necklace in Burgundy

I've been enjoying making some textile necklaces recently. They're all little pouches (or pockets) where you can stash a favourite item or lucky charm, a poem or love letter...whatever you want to keep close to your heart all day long.
You could even keep some emergency cash in there maybe...

This one is all burgundy - my latest colour crush.
I find it such a great colour for winter.

This one has already found its way into my MagicalFairytale shop.

A butterfly ponytail holder in tones of grey that I made for a friend's little girl recently.

Cherry Red Flower Mini Pouch Necklace

This little pouch pendant is one of a series made with natural cotton canvas and deep cherry red embellishments.

I love this combination of colours and I love the contrast of the 'plain' cotton canvas with the rich satin of the flower and the dupioni silk of the narrow bow.

I made these little pendants with the intention of having the little pouch to carry a keepsake or good luck charm with you at all times.

I'd actually also like these attached to a plain clothespin. To pin onto a jacket or top.

Red Flower Accessories

I recently made these large red rose flowers and attached them to this very soft but sturdy black cotton ribbon. The durable, heavy-weight ribbon means that they can be tied and un-tied repeatedly without showing wear.

The flowers themselves measure about 10cm across but are very light-weight and easy to wear in a multitude of ways.

I can easily see them used in the more usual ways: tied around the waist as a sash or belt, tied around the head as a headband or tie-back, the wrist as a floral wrist corsage or even around an ankle for a more bohemian, free spirited look.

Another way of using these is tied around the handles of a bag like a bag charm or accessory. I do it all the time as it's an easy -and inexpensive- way to change a bag's look and brighten your mood in the process.

Another way I've seen them used is as a floral touch in home decor, wrapped around a vase or favourite object in the house. A flower accessory for the home.
I know I'd love to see these as nursery decor for a little girl!
Perhaps tied around a bed post or chair.

Magical Fairytale - Mini Red Flowers

Petite red rose flower brooches.
In my -as yet unannounced- new etsy shop Magical Fairytale .

I wanted a shop that would exclusively cater to the magic of childhood and capture that feeling of awe and wonder at all things fairytale. A shop with all sorts of 'props' that would furnish the world of an imagination bent on merging the fairydust of magical tales with life as we know it.
Thus Magical Fairytale was born.

I have big plans for this little shop that is at this point, basically, still under construction and -as all etsy shops are-always a labour of love.

Magical Fairytale Butterfly Bobby Pins

Brand new butterfly bobby pins in a rich burnt orange.

I added two pairs of wings so that they seem to be in perpetual motion, even when there is no gentle breeze blowing to cause them to flutter.

The centre has a 'body' of beautiful irridescent glass beads that flash red, magenta and orange.

I attached these to silver-tone bobby pins but they are quite perfect for u shaped hair pins. So I'll try them in a pale yellow fabric next time and sew them onto gold-tone u hair pins to see how they turn out.

You can find these here.
