Radiant Orchid Wedding Flowers

These are some wedding flowers I made for Amanda in radiant orchid: boutonnieres, bobby pins and a couple of large flowers that were turned into a bridal wrist corsage and a flower girl sash....

The Vintage Sewing Pattern Pledge

The other day I bumped into a post over at  A Stitching Odyssey blog with a sewing challenge that got me all excited.
The gist of it is that you join in and pledge to sew from vintage patterns in 2015.

There's all manner of options as to how you can take part in the challenge, with varying degrees of difficulty.
Options range from actually using your very first vintage pattern to promising to sew 5 items from vintage patterns.

If you head over to this post HERE you can find out the details and take the pledge.

Of course, I jumped right in and took my own pledge to make at least 5 things from vintage patterns over the next year.

I wanted to take pictures of some of my favourite vintage patterns to include in this post but as my camera is still not working, I chose a few random ones from my etsy Vintage Patterns favourites collection that I hope you like. Click on any picture to go to the link.
I will, however, be making a post of my favourite vintage patterns from my own collection soon.

Black Tie Market Soap

I got the sweetest, most delicious-smellling hand and body soap in the mail the other day. It's yuzu and apricot scented, with a noticable, revitalizing citrus-ey tang under the honey-sweet apricot top notes.

The fragrance was so uplifting that it put me in a happy mood for hours. As did the bucolic, country-scene wrapping paper.

It's from an etsy shop called The Black Tie Market and Amber, the owner and creator, is just an all-round wonderful person to deal with.*

Though I did go back and forth on whether I should use it or keep it, the former won and I can tell you, it lives up to its promise.

*I know Amber from her pattern selling shops on etsy and ebay and we have had a few transactions as well as exchanges so I can say with confidence that she is a pleasure to deal with and recomend her -and her shops- wholeheartedly.

Purple Fabric Flower Keyring

Yet another flower keyring in purple hues, and once again it's a present for a friend.

OK, I'll admit it, I love making them and it's hard for me to pass up the chance to do so....

This one has a deep, royal purple flower with big black beads and soft sandy-coloured silk leaves.

Faux Fur Pyramid Clutch

Pyramid clutch purse made of two different kinds of faux fur: one a very deep, rich purple and the other a black and white leopard print.

The bright red zipper used for contrast just makes my day.

The thing with this little pyramid bag is that it looks quite different, depending on the angle you're looking at it.

I've wanted to make a version of this pyramid bag for some time now so I'm very happy that I finally did!

I see some different versions of this pouch in my future. I'm planning on making a make-up case for me as well as a friend or two....
