Summer Reading List

aka Wishful Thinking....

This stack of books has been patiently waiting to be read for a long time so I've decided to call it my summer reading list and see how that fares.....

I just realized that I've actually read two of these -a long time ago- and am looking forward to re-reading them.

Has anyone read James M. Cain?
This is my very first attempt and I don't know what to expect.
I ordered these after seeing the Mildred Pierce short series with Kate Winslet and I can't recomend that highly enough.

I'm very excited to read these two books as well, by Edward Rutherfurd -an amazing author.
I've actually read London -years ago- and it's one of those books that you always remember.
A true masterpiece.
Has anyone read it?

What's on your summer reading list?

Natural Flower Dyeing

While browsing through Pinterest the other day, a bunch of images showing flower-dyed fabric caught my attention. This has been on my to-do list for a while, but as that list is pretty much endless, I have yet to make a dent in it and have yet to try flower-dyeing fabric.
I was so captivated by these images and their promise that I started a new Pinterest board with all kinds of natural dyeing techniques and methods.

Pastels In Progress

These are bunch of organza flowers all finished and waiting to be turned into pastel, summery wrist cuffs for M's bridesmaids...

I confess, love them exactly as they are...

But I also know how much I'll love them with white tulle leaves, lace and ribbon when they are finished and ready to be shipped.

I'll be sure and take a picture to show....

Which colour do you prefer?

Etsy Favourites - Grey Whispers

Sterling Silver Dragonfly Earrings

Silver Grey Feathers

Dandelion Art Print

Surreal Ocean Photography

Ethereal Loosely HandKnit Newborn Wrap

It's been a while since my last Etsy Favourites post, I know....
Time is still constantly, relentlessly ticking at my heels.
However, today's permeating misty grey was so very inspiring that it resulted in this colourless but thoroughly dreamy collection.

Alora!

Gee, I love this photo!
It's taken by Suzie of First Blush Photography and just like all of her amazing photos, its clarity and light enthralls me.
The pretty little Miss in the picture is no less of an attraction....
And I'm very happy to say that the pretty Alora is wearing a Fairytale Flower ribbon headband that looks enchanting on her!

It's a flower headband that has three of these oh-so-delicate grey organza flowers, sewn onto a long organza ribbon which though ethereal and whispy-looking, is quite wide and very sturdy when tied onto the little one's head.

The same little flowers make easy-to-wear-anywhere bobby pins too.

Ethereal Organza Bridal Flowers

These are some of the bobby pin flowers I've been working on lately.

This white ivory organza is so translucent and delicate that it gives the resulting flower a positively ethereal quality.

Add to that the romantic nature of the vintage lace as well as the beads, pearls and large sparkly rhinestone in the centre and you get a  little flower accessory that's positively made for a wedding.

There's also a pale pink version that I love just as much....

Which do you like best?

Getting It All Done

While it's true that I've been remiss in my blogging lately, it's due to lack of time rather than lack of inspiration, subject matter or any lagging of interest.

There's so much I'd love to be sharing here daily but there just isn't enough time in a day to do all the wonderful -and not- things that need to be done in a mere 24 hours.....

I have been happily busy with orders as well as new items for my Fairytale Flower shop that I've been itching to share but haven't had the time to.

Do you find that there's not enough time in the day to fit in all that you want to do?

Is it a matter or organization?
Determination?
Delegation?

How do you manage to get it all done in one day?

Anty tips or advice are most welcome.

Paper Mothball Vintage

Just the other day I had the good fortune of stumbling across Paper Mothball Vintage, the visually stunning and very inspirational blog of Laura Otaki.

Laura is a vintage fashion designer, stylist, vintage editorial blogger and -as you can evidently see from the pictures- an extremely beautiful model.
(Learn more about Laura HERE)

The ease with which she seems to move through eras and styles and always embody them so convincingly is magical to watch.

In Laura's own words:
'I enjoy working as a stylist, mixing modern, vintage and new vintage. As a model, I always try to bring the clothing to life.Every garment has it's own story that it wants to tell. When I step into a dress, I step into being that girl.'
