Nautical Beach Bag - White Stripes

Large octagonal beach bag in nautical stripes in a combination of red, white and blue -with a touch of black. The bag is fully reversible and all fabric used is natural cotton.

The handles are denim and wide, so that they will remain comfortable on the shoulder even when they're carrying quite a bit of weight.

While it doesn't look that big, it fits in all your beach essentials and more: a beach towel, purse/pouch/clutch, sunscreens, extra swimsuit, magazine or book, water bottle, etc.

You can find it listed in my OnePerfectDay shop.

I spy.....Eried Minimal Handsculpted Bell Flower Brooches

This week, I spy Eried's latest addition to her beautiful minimal accessories, namely the fabulous bell flower series of brooches.

Bell Flower with Oxidized Silver Stamen by Eried

First of all, I must disclose the fact that I am a long standing fan of Eri's work....I love the organic form of her accessories that seem to be inspired by the natural world in general and flowers in particular.

I'm always impressed by the way she can transform ultra romantic flowers like pansies, roses, tulips and jasmine into undisputably contemporary accessories.

This series of bell flower brooches in mostly black and white is no exception and fits right in with the other highly stylized and surprisingly edgy flower accessories in her shop.

My Creative Space - Journal Cover

I tried something new for me this week and had my first attempt at a journal cover.

This was the result and I'm kind of happy with it -though I see areas for improvement.

I raided my lace stash and used some lace scraps but also some of my grandmother's vintage crochet lace for the first time.

The polka dot fabric was just begging to be added
...so I caved in.....

I couldn't resist adding some vintage scraps and ribbons...

and a couple of black organza flowers...

Denim Notions Bag - Take 2

Here are some better pictures of my entry for the Naughty Notions Bag Challlenge by Rikka of Ricochet and Away and Keren of Sew la Vie blogs.

This one I actually made for myself.
I don't make many bags for myself. I make about one a season. If it turns out the way  I wanted, I keep it. If it's not, I give it away and make another one. If that's a hit, I usually carry it around for about a year -at least.

That's why I embellished it with many of my stashed away notion keepsakes.

And that's why there are pockets just about everywhere -though I usually have more on a larger bag.
There's three deep pockets on the outside and three flat ones on the inside.

The back is left much plainer, though I couldn't resist some shabby vintage material scraps and a ribbon from my stash doubling as key-ring.
The flower is one of my black and white organza flower brooches and it's detachable.

And a couple of close ups.

All the challenge entries are here, where you can also vote for your favourite bag.

The Naughty Notions Bag

Yes, once more I find myself uploading the pictures of my bag challenge entry at the last minute -and vowing I will not do this again next time....

The good news is that, while,, literally finished at the last minute, it is exactly what I had imagined.

The pictures weren't the best -at the setting of the sun, it was no wonder
...but I hope you get the idea....

Most of these labels, buttons and various notions have a sentimental value and have been lurking in dark places for a project such as this.
For example, the little white daisy with the hanging beads adorned my mother's wedding dress....

I'll get some better pictures tomorrow, but for now, here is the front and below is the back of my entry.

Here is were you can see the rest of the bags in the challenge.

New Organza Flower Cuffs

I've been working on a new kind of cuff lately.

I'm still hooked on these organza flowers and coming up with all sorts of shapes, sizes and colour combinations.

But I've tried a new look by making them into what  look like bangles that you just slide on and off.

They've got a wide elastic band base that is quite thick and so holds it's shape. So you can wear it either snug-fitting on your wrist, or opt for a larger size band and wear it as a bangle with that characteristic sense of motion it creates.

I just love the way they look worn.
I can't wait to photograph them and share some more pictures.
