Bridal Flower Headpiece

This is a custom order, oversized flower headpiece I did just last week for a bride who loves her flowers - and is no shrinking violet! You need to have confidence to wear a floral crown of this magnitude. And just look at the size of these flowers! They are enornmous!

I adore oversized flower headdresses! The bigger the better, I say. They remind me of flower fairies and other romanticized creatures that populate fairytales and legends.

There are 8 flowers in total attached to the ribbon but they are of varying sizes. The organza I used was selected in a white and ivory mix and there's some silver thrown in there as well, in the centres of most flowers.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this flower wreath and I hope that she loves wearing it on her wedding day.

Snow White Flower Bobby Pins

These are a pair of snow white flower bobby pins that set off for their voyage over the Atlantic Ocean today.

Which somehow got me singing this catchy late 1980s hit song - in french, no less.....

Featured Seller

I'm thrilled to have my Fairytale Flower shop featured on the EGST blog today!

I was contacted by the lovely Polina, who runs the interview column of the EGST blog last month and of course I jumped at the chance to be part of the Featured Seller posts, among artists and crafters that I respect and admire.
You can read the interview here.

It was very interesting trying to answer questions about feelings and situations that you never question because they have been a part of you for so long that they have become your reality.
It was an enlightening experience.

I have offered the EGST blog readers 30% off any Fairytale Flower accessory with the use of this coupon: EGST30. It's valid until March 6.

I could hardly exclude my lovely visitors from the offer. If you are reading this and would like to take advantage of the offer, feel free to use the same coupon on any purchase except custom orders.

Capturing Blue

I just love this blue organza. However, the real thing is not exactly the colour that shows up every time I take photos of the flowers I make using it.
I can't seem to be able to photograph blue and red accurately. I don't know what the trick is.

Any suggestions?

Warm Chocolate

These are my newest organza flowers, in a deep, rich chocolate brown.

I think I'll turn one into a brooch and keep it myself. I find that brown is such an easy-to-wear winter colour.

Dusky Rose

These dusky rose organza flowers are part of my newest flower craze.
The idea is that there are a number of similar flowers made in varying sizes and the wearer decides how or where they will be worn.

You can turn them into a floral crown; scatter them whimsically in your hair; arrange them artfully; wear them on your bodice or your sash; divide them amongst your wedding party; gift them to your bridesmaids.

I attach them to individual hair clip/ pin brooch findings and leave the rest to the recipient.

White Ivory Organza Flower Hair Clips

This palest ivory organza is a joy to work with. I tried adding some smokey grey faceted beads in with the rhinestones and I like the extra depth they add.

Total Gold Organza Flower Hair Clips

I'm absolutely in love with this gold organza.
I tend to go through colour crushes that last a while and then fade away until the next one.
It probably shows in this blog from time to time too.
It definately shows through my flowers.

Golden Organza Flower - Fairytale Flower

So this golden yellow is my latest colour obsession and I've made an assortment of different flowers with it so far.
But this one is my newest style and one of the very first flowers with stamens that I made -which I have found out that I adore!

Golden Organza Flower  Hair Clip - Set Of 2 - Fairytale Flower

I was thinking of something glamorous for a bride - be it for a fall wedding or not - and I reasoned that you can't get more glamorous then gold.

So the result was a set of two hair clips in total gold. Lustrous metallic gold stamen paired with golden yellow organza.
Gold excess!

The look adorable clipped together but just one can stand perfectly well on its own.

What do you think?
Would they look good on a bride on her big day?

My Creative Space - Journal Cover

I tried something new for me this week and had my first attempt at a journal cover.

This was the result and I'm kind of happy with it -though I see areas for improvement.

I raided my lace stash and used some lace scraps but also some of my grandmother's vintage crochet lace for the first time.

The polka dot fabric was just begging to be added
...so I caved in.....

I couldn't resist adding some vintage scraps and ribbons...

and a couple of black organza flowers...
