Fairytale Flower Keyrings

This was a bunch of flower keyrings I did with the lilac and caramel colour combination I got addicted to for a spell. (You can see the other lilac-caramel flowers here.)
I added some coral and red in a couple of these as well. Can you see it peeking out among the petals?

There were a couple more than the three shown in the pictures but they're all gone now. I kept one for myself, as my old one was looking a bit the worse for wear and it was time to change it. The rest I gave away to friends.

So now it's time to make some new ones!
I can't wait to see what colour they turn out!

Caramel and Lilac Flowers

Flower brooch/hair clip in caramel and lilac with hints of brown.

I love the mix of colours in these and I love the different textures of the petals as well as the fiber filament centre. It's the very first time I've tried a centre of this type and I'm quite taken with the result.

In the photo above you can see the dual backing of the flower that is both a brooch and an alligator clip, which makes it possible to wear the flower in a number of ways.

They're not all quite the same size. The bigger ones measure about 8 cm or 3 inches across and the smaller one about 7 cm or 2.5 inches.
They are a limited edition. Only six made.
Of which I've kept one for myself......and given one to a friend...
So now there's just four.

Lilac and Brown Flower Headband

This was a custom order for Jennifer.
For her beautiful little girl, in fact, who is going to be a flower girl next week in a rustic country themed wedding.

The colours we were working with were lilac, cream and brown and these are the resulting flowers.
I made a large flower headband and a smaller flower corsage by attaching the flowers to a plush cream-coloured cotton ribbon.

And these are the flowers before I attached them to the ribbons.
I liked them so much I may make one for my winter coat lapel.....

Wisteria

It's the time of year when wisterias bloom in soft, billowy bunches of the palest shades of purple; the perfect expression of spring.
Such a pity they're gone all too soon.....

Keyring Flower Charm

This is a gift I made for a friend who doesn't wear flower accessories.
Not as brooches, or hair clips, or rings or earrings.

So she got a key ring -or bag charm if you prefer- with a flower she admired in a sweet, muted lilac.

You tie it around your key ring or your bag handle.

I use a version of this on my car key and home key sets and never have to waste time any more fishing into my bag for either set of keys.

It used to be a particular pet peeve of mine to have to manically search for those elusive keys.
Now I use the tell-tale leaves or flower to quickly fish it out of a pocket.

I've been making and using these for at least a couple of years and I'd vouch for their effectiveness.
Plus I get to carry a couple of my flowers around all day.....

-----------------------------------------------------
THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED.
THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.
-----------------------------------------------------

It's that time of year again!
Time for the Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day -which, as you probably know by now, is actually a whole week!

So here is the first of the giveaways I'll be joining with.

This is a selection of some of my favourite spring fabrics -thus the abundance of stripes and the obligatory polka dots- plus some lovely vintage lace and daisy trims that were recently given me.

They're all wonderful, natural cotton except for the red one which is a luxurious linen-cotton blend.

The dimensions of the pieces vary and so does their thickness.

Here's a birdseye view of the fabrics laid out.

If you would like a chance to win this little bundle of fabric, please leave a comment below telling me what your spring sewing plans are.

Just in case you'd like an extra entry or two, you can like my flower accessories shop Fairytale Flower , my fabric accessories shop One Perfect Day or you can even follow this blog.
Please leave an extra comment saying that you did one -or all- of these and they will be counted as extra entries.
(Please make sure there is a link to your comment where I can reach you if you win.)

International entries are welcome.

Giveaway ends on May 10 and post will be updated with winner by May 12.

Thanks for participating.

You can see the numerous other giveaways on the Sew, Mama, Sew blog and please come back to see the rest of the giveaways I'll be posting soon.

Mini Dusky Pink Fascinator

This is one of my newest flowers.
A seemingly innocent dusky pink laced with a generous dose of drama.

The chunky beads in the centre are actually black onyx stones and the rich burgundy satin flower that is peeking out is handmade by my very own sister....

The flower is pretty small. Only 5cm -just under 2 inches.

But the feather turns it into a much taller 10cm -or almost 4inches.

Dusky Rose Organza Flower

Yes, I have a new flower to show.
It's a dusky pink that has stolen my heart.

I honestly didn't expect to like it so much but as soon as I had a bunch of petals together, I knew it was my new favourite!

This version has soft lilac tulle as well as a baby pink tulle that has holes so much bigger it might be a net.
These change the colour of the flower noticably, to a hue that's much more purple than if the organza was used on its own.

As for the leaves, they were an unexpected hit and now I'm having trouble trying something else....

Vintage red linen so crisp you'd like to work with it for ever.

The beads are a deep burgundy-brown and I think they've also fitted in nicely.

The back.
A clever pin back/ hair clip that allows you to wear it in so many ways.

Newest Pink And White

These are my latest in pastel pinks and white.
You can wear them as a sash, a headband or wrap them around your wrist for a pretty cuff/corsage.

With dainty white tulle leaves with lilac thread

and irridescent sequins in the shape of a flower.

This white ribbon is natural cotton and velvety soft to the touch

but very sturdy for lots of tying and untying.

I love the light and airy feel of these colours and materials.

They're all in the shop.

Wrist Corsage in Lilac, Purple and Champagne

This is my latest wrist cuff / corsage.
The flower is a delicate champagne organza that is shot through with bronze and gold set in purple and lilac toned leaves and ribbon.

I can't wait to photograph it on a model.
