Teal Tulle

I was going through some old photos when I came across these, of some long-gone teal tulle leaves. (In the picture above you can see them straight off the sewing machine and still attached to the tulle, before being cut out.)

I love making tulle leaves and I use them quite a bit when making my fabric flowers. But usually they're white or ivory, maybe silver, sometimes baby blue

This particular shade is, perhaps, the boldest I've used in my tulle leaves.
Which is surprising, given my love of colour..... ( glaringly obvious in the pairing of said leaves with a flamboyant hot pink)

I think I'll go get some of my bolder coloured tulle out and make some leaves, just for the fun of it...

Caramel or Dark Chocolate?

This is what I'm working on lately.
Leaves for this very large, very red organza flower.

There are two versions I'm stuck on because I like them equally.
One is this very dark chocolate brown

and the other is this lovely dark caramel brown corduroy.

Corduroy is definately one of my favourite winter materials and with the temperature dropping noticably in the evenings, I've been longing to work with it.

What do you think?
Which leaves are best?
The lighter corduroy leaves or the darker, more dramatic ones?

Happy Mother's Day!

SmilingBirds

Fairytale Flower on etsy.

In my -inexcusable- neglect of this blog lately, I have also neglected to tell you about Fairytale Flower, the new shop I opened on etsy -exclusively with organza flower accessories.

Now both the new creations as well as my old favourites can all be housed together in their own little conservatory -and make room in OnePerfectDay for some exciting new arrivals.

I'd love it if you visited and gave me an opinion.

New Honeysuckle Pink Sash-Wrist Cuff

I know I've been going overboard with the pinks and reds lately but it seems to be a mania that has taken on a life of its own.....
I can't help it.

The thing is, I just can't get enough of these bright, upbeat colours.

So here's my latest fuschia pink organza flower sash/headband/wrist cuff.

It's actually quite difficult to photograph the organza and capture the hue accurately. The colour is approximate. In real life it's deeper and brighter -and a touch more red.

The ribbon is vintage, natural cotton and baby soft to the touch. In my very favourite hard-to-miss red.

My Creative Space - Burgundy, Honeysuckle and Red

Here's something I've been playing around with lately.

The petal colours are a variation of the Burgundy Love Mix Flower , but that's where the similarity ends.

I love how the bright red ribbon pops and the leaves with the white tulle and red stitching are one of my all-time favourite leaves.

My Creative Space - Honeysuckle And Persian Green Organza Flower

Very much still in the organza-flower-making mode, I'm creating flowers that are more similar as well as very different to their predecessors.

This one is one of my favourites.
I know.....I say that about all of them, but it's true.
For all of them.

I'm cazy about that persian blue irridescent centre.

And I love how it goes with the honeysuckle petals and the tulle layers.

I should be listing it with the others shortly.

Work In Progress

This is my organza flower in honeysuckle, with one of my all-time favourite centres, shimmering black sequins with purple and green accents and black tulle for added texture.

And here is the quest for a leaf that complements it best:

1. Crisp black linen with purple stitching. (The purple is actually brighter and more 'purple' on the real thing.)

2.Natural cotton canvas with black stitching. Already fraying fast.

3.Soft sky blue natural cotton with black stitching.

4.Natural cotton canvas again but this time with red stitching.

5.Vibrant emerald green leaf covered with white tulle and black stitching.

I love to hear your opinion and I'd appreciate any feedback about which ones you like more or less.

Mother-Daughter Flower Brooches

These honeysuckle organza flowers are a custom order brooch set, for a mother and daughter.

They were meant to be worn by both mum and little one together.

I actualy saw them worn by said mum/daughter duo and they looked adorable.

I liked it so much that I decided to make some especially for my etsy shop.

To be listed soon.
