Large Burgundy and Black Flower Boutonierre

A large flower boutonniere in a moody mix of burgundy and black.
It measures 2.5 inches or about 6.35 cm across.

It's a custom order, made to tie into a special wedding outfit. So it's one of a kind.

And it's making its way across the ocean as we speak.

Long Textile Necklace in Burgundy

I've been enjoying making some textile necklaces recently. They're all little pouches (or pockets) where you can stash a favourite item or lucky charm, a poem or love letter...whatever you want to keep close to your heart all day long.
You could even keep some emergency cash in there maybe...

This one is all burgundy - my latest colour crush.
I find it such a great colour for winter.

This one has already found its way into my MagicalFairytale shop.

Miniature Bag in Red and White

Handmade miniature bag in natural cotton canvas with red flower and pom pom details.

A whimsical little handbag for a doll's outfit or for a little girl to play with.

It measures about 8 cm or 3 inches across - that's counting the floral and ribbon embellishments.

Fairytale Flower Keyring with Burgundy Leaves

This caramel and lilac keyring/bagcharm is the one I currently have my keys on. It's the one I kept for myself from this batch and I just can't get enough of this specific colour combination. It really makes my day!

It's pretty big, I can tell you! It measures almost 12 cm and yet it weighs next to nothing!
That's because the petals themselves are extremely light, the fabric of the leaves is also light and there is no heavy centre to weigh it down. When I add beads to the centre -which I adore!- there is a bit of extra weight added to the keyring. Not that it's ever a real problem, as the weight is still negligable, but, the heavier the beading, the more weight added overall.

There were 2 other similar keyrings, one with red linen leaves and one with pink satin leaves and they have already found their new homes long since.

Garnet Red Satin Flower Corsage

I came across some deep, garnet red satin that just begged me to try my hand at it.

So I obliged.
This is the result.

Caramel or Dark Chocolate?

This is what I'm working on lately.
Leaves for this very large, very red organza flower.

There are two versions I'm stuck on because I like them equally.
One is this very dark chocolate brown

and the other is this lovely dark caramel brown corduroy.

Corduroy is definately one of my favourite winter materials and with the temperature dropping noticably in the evenings, I've been longing to work with it.

What do you think?
Which leaves are best?
The lighter corduroy leaves or the darker, more dramatic ones?

Favourite Autumn Reds And Browns

This is a headband-sash I made for a friend lately.

I was itching to make something in a riot of fall reds and russets and caramels

and this was the outcome.

I was pretty happy with it

and it was well received -accompanied by a rusted orange lavender loveheart brooch, in a girly cotton pouch.

My Creative Space - Wrapping it up!

I recently took some pictures of an order getting ready to be shipped off.

This is one of my newest boxes -that I just love! A candy pink box of the very sturdy kind.
That way I'm sure that the flower will reach it's destination in perfect condition instead of it being crushed under mountains of mail.

The wonderful card that is accompanying the package is by Sevenstar -my favourite etsy illustration shop.

My Creative Space - Burgundy, Honeysuckle and Red

Here's something I've been playing around with lately.

The petal colours are a variation of the Burgundy Love Mix Flower , but that's where the similarity ends.

I love how the bright red ribbon pops and the leaves with the white tulle and red stitching are one of my all-time favourite leaves.

Lavender Loveheart Brooches

Maybe you've seen the making of these little hearts in a previous post, maybe not.
This is the finished product, modelled and shot and in the shop!

Silky to the touch, sweet-smelling, girlie, lavender-filled lovehearts that you can carry with you all day long, pinned to your top, jacket or even your bag .

The colours: dusty rose pink, bright red, mellow burgundy, rusty orange and caramel brown.

I'm a big fan of lavender as well as lavender sachets.
I think I was hooked when reading about  the long list of healing and therapeutic properties of the herb.

I've been meaning to make a special post about it for some time -and one of these days I will...

Until then, here's the skinny:
Lavender is well known for it's calming, soothing properties but it's actualy also a tonic and a stimulant and is used against exhaustion .

Anti-stress and anti-depressant, it relieves anxiety and can even help balance mood swings.

There's so many uses that the list seems endless......
......I'll have to make that post soon.

Tickle Me Tuesdays - Approaching Fall

I know that Autumn is officially well and truly underway, but around here we're still in the last throes of summer. Only now that the air is chilling slightly but gradualy can we begin to think of the approaching cooler weather.

These are the images that are putting me in the mood for the season:

1.This perfect depiction of Snow White by PalePreoccupation.

3.Aah! The Haute Couture issue by Paolo Roversi , September 2011 for Vogue Italia.
(via Abundance)

4.Another favourite photographer on etsy, TCapone and this perfect fallen leaf! I can't get over these colours and the crispness of the image.

5.A capelet in deep red burgundy.
Just what this season requires -by Threadrare.
